Mastering Timing in Relationships

Mastering timing in relationships can be crucial in determining the success and harmony of a relationship.

Orientation to Time

Your orientation to time is different than everyone else’s. We’re all self-focused.

So when you force other people to be on your timing, you’re going to create some emotional challenges between you.

Time isn’t one-size-fits-all. Respecting how others move through time can make all the difference in your relationships. Compromise doesn’t mean sacrificing – it’s about understanding. Meet halfway, and time won’t come between you.

Mastering Timing in Relationships

You need to sit down and come to a clear agreement.

And then once you come to that agreement, you need to honor that agreement around time in that relationship

And that will make sure that time never has the opportunity to ruin your emotional connections with others.

Instance, if I go hang out with my brother Ryan. If we’re going to go to an event, he wants to get be 15 minutes early.

Me, I want to get there right when the event starts.

I’ve started to understand and respect his orientation to time more. So now when we go to events, instead of being 15 minutes early, I’m happy to be there 7 minutes early.

I’m not giving up too much of my orientation. He’s not giving up too much of his orientation to time. Everyone’s orientation to time is their own.
